Guards Polo Club is delighted to announce that our Clé de
Peau Beauté Guards Ladies Charity Polo Final raised £15,000 for Ovacome, the
UK’s leading ovarian cancer support charity. Players, members, lunch guests, stall
holders and our many visitors contributed generously on the last Saturday in
August to support this fantastic charity which does so much to support those
affected by ovarian cancer.
This is our first year supporting Ovacome at Guards Polo
Club and we were honoured to receive such a positive response from everyone who
attended on the day. We are already planning how to continue to support the
Ovacome team with their future fundraising plans.
Victoria Clare, CEO of Ovacome, said on receiving our news:
“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of all those involved,
it has been fantastic to raise awareness of the symptoms of the disease among
so many people as early diagnosis is so important. The funds raised will help us provide support
and information to people when they need it most.”
The fundraising was built around the finals of the Clé de Peau Beauté Guards Ladies Charity Polo tournament. Nine teams had entered this year’s 16-goal competition and Semper Anticus came out best, beating the AM Polo Team 9 – 5.5 on The Queen’s Ground. A charity match featuring the Club’s lady patrons was won by the sponsor’s Clé de Peau Beauté team. They defeated the home side, Guards Polo Club 3.5-1 in a fun, but equally competitive match.
